I’ve learned that it’s always a great idea to have a trip planned AFTER the Holidays. You know, I tend to be in a slum after all the Christmas festivities are over. Plus, I think winter (especially January and February, when the weather is so dreary) is a great time to go away seeing as it’s low season and things are cheaper. Last time, we went to Iceland in February, this time, I’ve chosen somewhere warm and I’m so glad I did! Temperatures in this part of the world dipped down to -25C all week and I cannot wait to leave it behind even if it’s only temporarily.
After seeing a bunch of Key West posts from a few of my favourite travel bloggers (Adventurous Kate, Camels & Chocolate), I decided it was time to make this a priority and introduce myself to the island lifestyle and to those key lime pies. I rallied several of my friends and booked our flights when West Jet had a sale last summer.
We will be flying into Miami, getting our car, and driving the Florida Keys. We’ll spend our first 2 nights in Key West, followed by 1 night in Key Largo, and the rest of the time in Miami. We have bikes (and a trike!) reserved in Key West and I booked us a snorkeling tour at John Pennekamp State Park.
For once, I am planning to check out of the hotels late so we can enjoy all of its amenities to their fullest (i.e. POOLS) I am so excited to eat all the seafood, drink all the rum, and watch ALL the sunsets (and maybe a few sunrises… if I manage to wake up early enough).
Follow along on Instagram, if you’d like! See you on the road!
Until next time,
